Cow milk is the perfect food—for a baby cow. Human breast milk is the perfect food for human infants, and only while they are children. After weaning, there is no biological need for dairy from another species.
Dairy is a common trigger for recurrent ear infections, throat infections, congestion, and eczema in children and adults. Milk proteins can also provoke autoimmune responses; dairy exposure in childhood is linked in research discussions to type 1 diabetes risk. Casein and other milk proteins have been studied in connection with prostate cancer and other hormone-sensitive conditions.
Dairy also packages animal fat and cholesterol—the same artery-clogging components found in meat. Bone health marketing for milk is largely marketing: populations with the highest dairy intake often have high osteoporosis rates, while plant-centered diets supply calcium with magnesium, potassium, and vitamin K from greens and legumes.
